MyraJean is getting really funny

MyraJean was looking in the mirror with big eyes when I was showering. She was moving her eyes back and forth, rolling them around, and blinking. It was pretty interesting and so I asked her what she was doing. She replied, "My eyeballs move. They didn't do that last week".

If MyraJean finds one of the kids not doing what they were supposed to she will lecture them. "That is NOT choosing the right, we need to always choose the right. If you want to make good choices, then you should.... (put toys away, clean room, be nice, follow directions) She seems to be the resident hall monitor. I never thought I would have one of those.

Trying to pintrest

This is the bean bag toss Clif made for Adele. I wanted to upload it to Pintrest and this was the only way for me to figure it out. It cost totaled about 20 to make, and if you look online, they are in the 60-70 dollar range. All you need is a router, a sander and some paint it took 3 hours to finish it. The bean bags are easy too. I picked out a pink heavy fabric and made 4 inch squares. I put the wrong sides together and sewed them almost shut. I left a two inch hole to turn the squared inside out, filled them with small beans, and hand sewed the hole shut. They took me about 2 hours to do. I am not the best seamstress though.

This is dedicated to my Mom

So my Mom said she hasn't seen new pictures of the cute baby so here are some while I chased her around with the camera. These were the spectacular ones, I only posted those. I only had to take about 20 to get 4 decent pictures. But these are super cute! Don't you love what I let her play with while I try to get pictures of her?

Late start to the day

Since it is President's Day today, Liam does not have school. But the kids have not grown out of the insane 5:30 am waking up time, so they were up when Clif left for work today. I kept telling them to go back to bed and to be quiet. I gave that up about 6:20 and told them to go watch a show. But the girls kept coming in my room and trying to get me up and to make them breakfast. I just told them to give me 5 minutes, then 5 minutes more... just 5 minutes, please! By 7:30 the girls had just about had it with me and told me to get out of bed. MyraJean was persistent. "Mom, the sun has already come up, you are sleeping the day away!"

Revenge is going to be sweet when they are teenagers and it is time for Saturday chore time. May I add that breakfast was done before 8 am this morning.

Since I was "dragging" according to my children, I stopped at McD's for a $1 diet coke. I got it and as I was driving away, Evelyn said "Mom, your diet coke smells like cheese burgers". And it did.

Funny!!

Not green with envy

We made egg salad sandwiches for lunch a couple of Sundays ago. The kids had left over salad a few days later. So the kids are eating and Liam comes running into my room waving his sandwich everywhere. He kept saying how gross it was and dry gagging all over. He shows me his sandwich and since I had over boiled some of the eggs it has caused his salad to go green in a spot from the yolk. I explained that it was fine, that I over boiled some of the yolks and that is what happens to eggs when over boiled. I told him that he needed to eat it. He took a bite, looked at it and then ran to the bathroom to throw up. Yep, he turned green at the THOUGHT that the eggs were bad. To say the least, he didn't finish the sandwich and I was pretty much done with lunch after that.
Oh my heck.....

Too much intellegence

I was telling Adele that she was so smart and MyraJean and Evelyn both asked me if they were smart too. I told them they were super smart too. The following conversation resulted.
MyraJean" Mom, cats sometimes chase mice".
Mom "You are right".
Evelyn "And sometimes they eat the mice. AND THEN they POOP them out". (with huge eyes)
All three girls- Maniacal laughter
Yep that is what Liam has taught them from his free public education. Gotta admit I laughed with the girls. They are indeed very smart.

Perserved life, I mean lemons

Let the sunshine rain through. A little token of how much inspiration I found in doing a little life preservation each day. Sometimes it is the little things that make me appreciate my life.

PS. These are good for a year in the fridge..... just like me.

Valentines day

So in interest of Pintrest, I made homemade whoopee pies. Hard, you say? Nope, used a cake box, rolled and cut them out. Then used already made frosting. How cute, huh! Yep, I am pretty crafty these days. Anyhow, joking aside. Valentines day was really fun because of the activities that we did this year. I gotta admit, I am not the best at celebrating the small holidays but because of Pintrest I have seem some really fun crafts that my kids and I can do without me pulling my hair out. So these cookies were inspired by some valentines that I saw and I made it easier.

This is Pintrest activity number 2. I saw these really fun dipped pretzels and because they are the knot shaped ones they almost make a heart after you dip them. So we melted chocolate and then let the kids dip them and lay them into valentine sprinkles. We had left over chocolate so we drizzled the rest of the pretzels with it and they turned out really cute too. It was a really fun time and the mess was pretty minimal. That is a huge selling point for me. I really like crafts but I have a hard time with the mess it seems to always make no matter how careful I am with the prep work.

Another great shot of how we did it. I really had an enjoyable time doing this and that says a lot. We then boxed them up and sent them to both sets of grandparents with homemade valentines. Cute you say? Yep, I outdid my self in cuteness this year. It really was a blast.

The kids making their Valentines for the grandparents. Adele got chocolate all over and so we stripped her shirt off, hence she is naked... again. Don't know where she gets her propensity for nudity, must be from the Koon side of the family.

My Mom, however, is fabulous in sending packages for the holidays. She sent the kids valentine socks, books, and crafts to do. Also there was a little candy. It was my kind of package.

Here are some of the kids decorating the windows with the gel stickers. These are my favorite kind of stickers and I really dislike stickers most of the time so that says a lot.

I hope that everyone had a great time this Valentines day. There is a lot of love in this family and we love to share it with others. I hope that everyone feels love from those that they are close to. Happy Valentines day to all.

House slave for anyone?

I felt accomplished today. I was able to shower, feed, and get all 5 kids out of the house at 750 this morning. Came home fed the baby, cleaned up breakfast, did my hair (I even blow dried it), and got the 4 girls to speech before 9. Came home put baby to sleep, ran 4 batches of laundry, baked 4 loaves of bread, and preserved 10 qt of lemons. Ran and got Liam from school, made lunch, cleaned up lunch, folded laundry and put it away. All I had left was to take the garbage bag out to the outside bin. I asked Liam to do it and he said "Huh, When do I get a break?"....... I am sure this will be funny in the coming years, not so much now.

If you ever wondered

This is what I prefer my children to do instead of TV. Until the clean up, then I reevaluate my decision.

Delsa is standing and so big

Oh my heck. She started crawling a couple of weeks ago and now she is trying to walk around my furniture. My life is over.....

Liam won an award

Liam got the citizen award in the kindergarten this semester. We were so proud, go Liam!

The invasion has spread

Liam actually wanted me to go on a high speed chase. I took a couple of pictures instead. Then he asked me if we could paint the car like that. I told him NO, his dad would not allow the car to be painted. He was seriously upset.

Extended Vacations

I got pulled over for chatting on my phone in the Target parking lot on Monday last week. I was pretty upset but understood that it was my fault. I pulled over in the back of the parking lot and told the cop that I knew I wasn't supposed to be talking on my phone. I handed my licence to the cop and he turned to go and then I heard a "Hello" from the back seat.

MyraJean and Evelyn had gotten out of their seats and were hanging out of the window talking to the cop. He kindly told them to get back in their seats. I begged them to get back in their seats and by this time was totally panicked because all I could think of was the amount of money that talking on my phone, plus 2 kids out of their seat belts was going to cost. I admit, I was crying by this point. The cop was so sweet and asked if the others were buckled in and I said yes. He checked and talked to the girls about getting in their seats, handed back my licence and registration. He then told me to stay off the phone and told the girls to stay in their seats. I think he was very sorry for me to be honest.

A few days later, the girls were out of their seats. I asked them what the cop said to them. Evelyn said that the cop told her I would be in so much trouble if they were out of their seats. Evelyn then said " Would the cops take you away?

I said "Yes, I would go to jail and they would go live somewhere else."

Evie asked "Would we go live with Mrs. Bates?" "No", I said "you both would go to live with Mimi or Aunt Sumer and I would be sad".

Evie said "Well we would get to play with Pearson and Linnea".

Sadly, they are planning on living with Sumer since they still are getting out of their seats. Sad....
